War 2 Review – The Shocking Truth About 2025’s Most Anticipated Spy Universe Sequel

War 2 Review – My Honest Take on 2025’s Most Anticipated Spy Universe Movie

When I decided to write this War 2 review, I honestly thought I’d be talking about one of the greatest action films of the decade. Sadly, the reality of this War 2 review is quite different — it’s about a hyped spy universe movie that falls flat despite huge star power. When the year began, War 2 was being hailed as one of the most anticipated Indian action movies.

As a watcher of the spy universe concept, I went in expecting something visually spectacular, with thrilling action sequences and a gripping story. But after watching it, here’s my honest War 2 review — the film might look grand from a distance, but up close, it’s a recycled template with a few bright spots.

Close-up of Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, both gazing intently at each other with serious expressions in WAR 2 review context.

A Promising Start That Quickly Loses Steam

The movie opens with a train chase sequence — and to be fair, this was the only moment where I genuinely felt that rush of excitement. Unfortunately, everything after that felt like a slow descent downhill. The action choreography didn’t just lack innovation, it felt painfully outdated, as if the filmmakers were going through the motions without passion. It completely changed my view of what I have expected from my trailer review

VFX and Action – The Biggest Disappointment

It’s shocking to see such poor VFX and embarrassingly lazy hand-to-hand combat choreography in 2025. Instead of feeling the adrenaline, I was left disappointed — not even angry, just disappointed. The vision and spectacle promised in the promotional material were nowhere to be found.

The Japanese Katana fight scene was the breaking point for me. Watching Hrithik Roshan surrounded by attackers, the sequence was so badly staged it reminded me of people playing “dandiya” more than an intense action scene.

Screenplay – Twists Buried in Dragging Narratives

Without giving away spoilers, I’ll admit the film does have some good twists and surprises. The problem is the excessive and exhausting exposition, especially in the second half. The flashback sequence post-interval felt painfully slow and borderline cringe at times. While watching the film, I kept thinking about how my War 2 review would turn out. Would I praise it endlessly, or would it be a warning for movie lovers? Sadly, this War 2 review leans heavily towards disappointment, with only a few bright spots worth talking about.

On a rooftop overlooking a landscape, Kiara kicks toward Hrithik who is recoiling. The woman
has brown hair, a gray top, and gray pants. She is leaning back and her hair is flung back due to the force of the kick. The man has short brown hair, and is wearing a white tank top, a light blue button-down, and white pants. They are facing each other and their expressions aren't clearly visible.

Performances – The Only Redeeming Factor in My War 2 Review

Hrithik Roshan as Kabir

This time Hrithik didn’t just rely on “mass hero” swagger; he truly acted. The Luthra kill scene (also teased in the trailer) showcased his intensity and reminded me why he’s such a compelling presence on screen.

Jr. NTR – Bringing the Mass Factor

Jr. NTR delivered exactly what fans would expect from him — massy, powerful moments that briefly lifted the energy of the film. It’s safe to say he gave his personal best here.

Kiara Advani – Pleasant But Underused

Kiara was good in her limited role, but it felt like she was just “sprinkled” into the narrative wherever needed, without being a real driving force in the story.

Visuals – A Green Screen Overload

The film suffers visually due to its excessive reliance on green screen. Instead of immersive locations and real set pieces, we get artificial backdrops that quickly become an eyesore.

Final Verdict – Closing Thoughts on This War 2 Review

As a War 2 review, I have to be honest — this was supposed to be the next big chapter in the YRF Spy Universe, but instead, it turned out to be a below-average action movie with only a handful of memorable moments. The lack of creativity in action design, poor VFX, and predictable screenplay all weigh it down.

If you’re a die-hard fan of Hrithik Roshan or Jr. NTR, you might still enjoy their performances. But as a complete package, War 2 doesn’t deliver on the hype it built. Wrapping up this War 2 review, my biggest takeaway is that even the most anticipated spy universe films can underdeliver if creativity takes a back seat. Just as the Jolly LLB 3 teaser managed to spark excitement by giving fans a juicy glimpse into its tone and storyline, the War 2 trailer, especially that moment when Hrithik kills Luthra, showed promise—but the final execution didn’t deliver.

My Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2.5/5)
